Myrtle Beach Race Weekend Part IV

We attended our Victory Brunch on Saturday. No one was feeling too victorious, especiually when they handed us our finishing medals without having run. Here is a picture of a TNT snowman who watched us eat breakfast.

We checked out of the condo on Saturday before breakfast, but took time to take pictures of the snow first:

Myrtle Beach Race Weekend Part II

We made it to the expo with plenty of time to spare. It was also much smaller than I expected. I checked in and got my bib number and a bag. I went to the back to get my T-shirt along with a water bottle and a hat. I looked around and bought a new head band and some throw away gloves. Carter enjoyed my hat and gloves.
We had time to check into our condo before dinner. Carter enjoyed exploring it and checking out all the TVs.
We ate dinner at the Marriott Grand Dunes with our team and listened to a mother's story of her sons battle with Leukemia. After, the marathon director spoke to us and let us know he was meeting with city officials at 10:00 to find out if they would still hold the race. I never expected this to even be a possibility. I knew the race had been postponed by 30 minutes. When we left dinner, it was snowing heavily. Around 10:00, I received the message the race had been canceled. Disappointed can't even describe how I was feeling. We were told we would be able to transfer our fundraising to another race and our "victory brunch" was changed to Saturday morning instead of Sunday.
Myrtle Beach Half Marathon Weekend Part I

Anyone who has been around me in the past 5 months knows I have been training for my first half marathon. I did it through Team in Training, so I also agreed to raise $2100 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. It has not been an easy 5 months. I started recovering from a SI joint injury. Once we started running more than 6 miles, I began having problems with my IT band, but I persisted. My parents flew in on Thursday night to cheer me on. We met Kevin at San Jose to begin our weekend:

Thursday night continued with my frantic packing and trying to make sure I had everything I needed. After numerous attempts (I'll deny some of the things I did, I finally was able to iron on the list of names I planned to run for:
Dad dropped me off at work on Friday, and one of my coworkers was going to watch my last class, so I could leave early. I was anxious to get to the Marathon Expo and make it to our team dinner on time.

Around 12:20, we found out school was going to be dismissed early due to a forecast for snow. I had been watching the weather all week and knew snow was a possibility in Myrtle Beach.

Carter has started to delay bedtime. We used to have him in bed by 6:30 every night. Lately, he has been stalling. Here he's sitting on the stairs with Dada: Then, he had to sweep the floor: Once we get upstairs, he has to rock in his little rocker, and rock in the big rocker in his room. I'm afraid he is turning into me when I was little.

Carter keeps us entertained (usually laughing) nonstop. Here is one of those situations:

We finally let Carter play with his play doh he received for Christmas. He was unsure of what to do with it until I showed him. Luckily, he only tasted it once, but Tiger sure thought it was yummy. Carter was most impressed by the ball I made for him.

It's never been a huge secret how much I hate Valentine's Day, but I did buy Kevin a gift: Unfortunately, Tiger enjoyed the first one.

I am still here. Just trying to keep up with life. I hope to have more time after the 1/2 marathon on Saturday.......Wish me luck!
